By the ClairTexte team

Upload an audio or video file, or record your voice, then start transcription in ClairTexte. Review the result before exporting it. The language of the recording is detected automatically; translation is a separate step.

Prepare a clear recording

Choose a recording in which voices are audible. A microphone close to the speaker and little background noise make review easier. Music, overlapping voices and specialist terminology can cause errors. Automatic transcription still needs human review.

You can upload audio or video. For free uploads, compatibility depends on the formats your browser can decode. If a file is not recognised, try a copy in a common format such as WAV or MP3 and keep the original.

Follow the steps in ClairTexte

  1. Open your workspace. Create an account and confirm your email address when requested.
  2. Add your recording. Upload a file or record with your microphone. Listen to a microphone recording before submitting it.
  3. Start transcription. Uploading prepares the audio; processing by OpenAI starts when you confirm it.
  4. Review and save. Use timestamps to replay unclear passages, edit the transcript and save your changes.
  5. Export. Choose Word or TXT for editing, SRT or VTT for subtitles. To create a PDF, use your browser’s print function.

Check before sharing

Check names, numbers, dates, negatives and technical terms: small errors can change the meaning. Keep the original recording to compare uncertain passages. Do not assume that a sentence has been assigned to the right speaker; ClairTexte does not guarantee speaker identification.

Files and results are private in your workspace. Obtain the permissions you need before recording or sharing other people’s speech. You can delete a file and its associated results from your account.
